I would think htc, Nokia and Amazon all paid for those ads. I don't think they'd ordinarily use the term in one of their glossy high-profile ads, but it's nevertheless an industry-wide term among the media, manufacturers, retailers, and industry analysts. Like it or not, it's here to stay.
