There is your problem! I too have a new HP with Win 8 the App that came with it doesn't work!!! So I DELETED it then to Amazon & Downloaded Kindle App for PC Win 7 Works like a charm! Then the rest is like everyone one else told you.
Same here! I don't think anyone has figured out where the books are downloaded in Windows 8. But the K4PC Windows 7 app works so well, as does the Kindle for Android, I don't worry about it.
