Look in the menu and see if there is a browser or internet listed. If there is that will allow you to get on the internet but it will be really slow/funky to try if yours is like my older unit.
Kindle makes a good reader. The kindle fire is more what you would want for facebook, but there are other tablets that might be better for you than that as well.
