Named character references
I found out recently that HTML5 has drastically increased the number of Named character references available so I built a reference page in our wiki. Since ePub 3 uses HTML5 these names should work. ePub 2 should still be able to reference the glyphs using numbers since unicode is supported but of course they will need to be in the font set you pick.
