I wanted to do the same, so I have short stories and novellas in a separate category in a 'spoiler'. Same thing for magazines such as
Asimov's SF or
Ellery Queen magazines. They certainly count for a page read goal, but a separate list will help you keep track and count them later. I actually had a goal to read 100 short stories and novellas (not part of a magazine or anthology) this year just because I tend to collect them (many from the Classics Podcast) and then never listen or read them.
