I had a long discussion last month with one of the Chinese students visiting me. Her mother is a nurse in Wuhan, and indeed she said antibiotic resistance is a problem there. However, in spite of drugs being so available, she is a strong believer in Eastern medicine and is very reluctant to take anything, even aspirin or Tylenol. Her viewpoint is pretty insightful, I think. She said that Western doctors are good at treating diagnosed diseases, but just because you don't have a disease doesn't mean that you are well. Eastern medicine helps make you well. Pretty smart, my friend is.
