All this talk of anti-biotic regulations makes me wonder...
In most Asian Third-World countries, we can purchase antibiotics over the counter without a prescription. Yet there seems to be less of a problem with drug-resistant bacteria here than in the US. Obviously Malaria is one disease that has morphed into various resistant strains, but so far none of the other tropicals have gone that route to the same degree that things such as strep, staph, tuberculosis have followed. Of course, in the tropics, we get far more parasitic infestations, but those too get treated with drugs that are sold over the counter here, rather than by prescription.
Makes me wonder...
