I worked out the css page style needs to be edit for every book upload.

But then if using the kobo_extended plugin in calibre a css file can be placed on the ereader that the plugin will look for and use when putting epubs on that reader, so only the epubs going to that particular reader are changed, and there is no nead to change all of them in the main library on your computer.

There is a description of how to load a custom CSS on kepub opening. With some bash scripts (that you can start for instance with the help of kobo launcher) you can choose between different css files before opening a book. This gives you some flexibility
