If Blossom is around she can probably answer this. I know she posted on it in at least one other thread. Seems like she said the cover art has to be huge before the book cover will show up in the carousel. Those little thumbnail only images don't work with the carousel in the Android app or on the Kindle Fires. I'm not sure about the iOS app as I never use the carousel.
