I run Succulents KitKat installed internally on my HD+. It is very smooth. Smoother than the CM10.2 I ran before. Only lag I notice is the screen rotation is slow. At least one of the persons over at XDA saying Succulents version was laggy admits to not having done a clean install. That CAN make a huge difference!
Battery life is the same as with stock for me.
