*EVA = Ethylene Vinyl Acetate; technically just the resin, the matrix is usually some kind of cloth or fiber.
My covers have an inflexible front and back, and a spine. That is both the cover for my Sony and the cover for my HTC.

For me, a cover is something that covers at least the front of your device and can be opened like a book.
A sleeve is a softisch pouch with one open side. You must remove the device from it before you can use it.
A case is a box which also completely encloses your device but is made of a hard material (metal, hard plastic).

And a protector is something that either covers the front of the device or the back of the device and won't be removed (think screen protector or one of those silicone thingies you put on to protect the casing of the device itself).
