I love Ogden Nash. Then there is this by Hilaire Belloc:

This always makes me think of what it takes to be a successful politician. A skin so thick that one has to "shoot" him with platinum bullets just to get his attention. That and platinum is worth so much more than lead and we all know how well politicians respond to money. Anyway clever, but literary??

Not to mention Dr. Seuss (Theodor Seuss Geisel).
