It IS a collection of small fish packaged together, but the small fish are all of the same 'family,'
Clupeidae. Not just small, but usually the babies of these fish.
They might be different 'species,' but they will all be of the same 'family.' There are seven different 'species' in that family; herring, anchovies, smelts, shad, sardines, whitefish, and one more whose name I can't think of at the moment. The thing that links them all together is that they smell bad...
Bagel with cream cheese, smoked salmon, thinly slice onion, and fresh fennel.
Delicious!
