Remapping of hardbuttons is planned for implementation, and is of high priority.
To go back and forward, you can use "left" and "right" buttons on your joystick (or whatever thingy your device has for it).
P.S.
Palm Plucker is far more feature-rich than Vade-Mecum.
But we're working on this issue. ;-)
