Why don't you delete your custom screensavers from their folder and try doing the 'cover' option (last read book cover) just to see if the hack is working or if it is your custom screensavers causing the problem. You will need to have python installed for 'cover' to work.

edit- if you are able to install any aspect of this hack, then your jailbreak is fine...leave it alone.
