I have to agree that DRM is totally wasted on the Amazon eBooks. So far only 3 of us, who voted, do not use Apprentice Alf. Almost everyone but me uses Calibre.

I believe Amazon should end DRM on eBooks just as they have ended it on MP3 song files. They should go to just inserting a serial number as they do on the songs. If DRM stripping is this easy and widespread, then attaching the DRM is a wasted effort.

Some of you folks should post exactly what you do with the Calibre since it almost seems a necessity to use it. I used to use MadiaMonkey to customize my metadata in my songs but stopped even using that. I just don't get it why metadata needs to be customized for songs or eBooks.

It appears I am the only one just reading the eBooks and not manipulating them in other ways. Again, with songs I just listen to the music and stopped customizing the metadata.

I notice no one selected the last option which was inserted just to see if any Forum Addicts are here who never bother to even buy eBooks. So far, none voted that way.

Of course, this poll only reflects the folks who voted. It doesn't reflect the millions who buy Amazon eBooks. Maybe Amazon should do a valid statistical poll among their eBook customers and see if the results apply to all of them.
