For laughs, I tried to make an ePub in Sigil using your html files, and had great troubles due to errors in the encoding. You seem to have forgotten the closing / for the meta tag in item1, 2 and 3, and I also had to add in the <?xml> and <html> ... </html> sections to each of those.
