If the former, adjust the link to where you put the books
if the latter, adjust the device driver or save folder to put the books in their place
If the app you are talking about is google play books then I dont think it can read books from the device drive you have to upload the books to google play book from its website.
I am guessing yours is an android device just download a free ebook readers app like coolreader or fbreaderj that should allow you to open any books you sent.
