I hated the e-ink inverted-flash at first, but was used to it by the time I finished my first book. I never notice it anymore, so long as I leave it set to refresh every turn; I think I've trained myself to blink at the right time during page-turning. If I try to set it to refresh every six page turns, not only does the ghosting bother me, but I actually notice the flash more.
Just try it for a while - it's very likely you'll adjust fast.
(And what sort of Nook? All e-ink devices except for the very recent ones will do this flash regularly; it's built in to the tech.)
