Identifying dependencies is getting more and more complicated with Qt5. They'll probably get there eventually, but it's still pretty early-days yet with Qt5 (with respect to its repo availability anyway). The problem with the repo sigil package could be almost anything. Distributing plug 'n' play packages that "just work" on every machine out there can be difficult stuff.

As far as "living with" the launch script, I guess don't find it to be a hardship of any kind. I just install to /usr/local/ ... rename the real sigil binary (/usr/local/bin/) to something else and then call that binary with a launch script named "sigil" (also in /usr/local/bin/) That way, the sigil.desktop file in /usr/local/share/applications/ still functions normally and a copy of it can be pasted to my desktop (as well as the standard graphical desktop menu entries being fully functional).
