Looking at the Toronto Star Replica Edition, it uses the same software as my digital edition of the Ottawa Citizen. The Citizen allows export of the full edition to an e-reader... I've used it a few times with my Touch. Not as convenient as a Sync, to be sure, but an option.

I'd ask the Star if they have that feature enabled in the Replica Edition setup.
