Lots of good authors mentioned already, but the late Bill Granger is my favorite. His November Man series is high on my list of favorite books.

Unfortunately, none are available in ebook, to my knowledge. I am seriously considering tracking down used hardbacks (second copies; I already have a copy of each) of each of the series so I can send them away to be chopped and scanned.

Also, I enjoyed William DeAndrea's Clifford Driscoll series. He, also, is no longer with us. His work is considerably less "dark" than Granger's.
