A 2A power adapter is highly recommended. Most devices cap out at 1A or 1.2A, so they don't charge faster with a more powerful charger, but the ones that can draw so much power to charge (such as the Nexus 4) will benefit from it.

The device limits the power draw.
A 2Amp port can charge just about any USB charged device.
I have a 2+A charger with 2 USP ports. 1 for the Samsung, 1 for the phone/ear piece (micro USB)

Remember

to Verify your charger works with the mains voltage where you will use it.
if the Label reads:
100
-240V It will work without switching settings
120
/240V This notation implies a switch or jumper must be set or the magic smoke will escape.
120V
or
240V are only designed for Singe voltage use
