The PW2 can be 'disconnected' (ejected) from your computer while still having it plugged in via USB cable so that you can use it while charging. Not sure why yours isn't...I would try all of the different ways on your computer to eject it as a drive until you find the one that works. If you need help, you'll need to give more computer info (ie- OS, etc).
If you are ejecting it via Calibre's eject device button/menu, that frequently doesn't work on my computer and I need to go through the My Computer / eject drive.
