Kobo drops newspaper subscriptions

One reason I bought my Kobo Glo was to download and read the paper daily
on it (Toronto Star).

Each morning I'd SYNC, the edition for the day and that was it.

Kobo all too frequently (2-3 times per month) did have technical issues
with this process however with credits extended my subscription.
Not having received a paper for a couple of days, I checked
my account to find my subscription had been cancelled???

I called Kobo and they advised they no longer were offering the service hence the reason for cancellation!! They gave no advance notice and offered no alternatives, just quietly cancelled.

I did call the Toronto Star and they do offer a digital version for PCs/Tablets/smartphones but I HATE reading a newspaper on a PC and
have yet to buy a tablet.

So the question is, are there any alternatives to obtaining/downloading
a newspaper to the GLO? I doubt any such option will be as easy as a one touch SYNC.

I did try the Caliber newspaper thing along time ago, maybe thats my
only option? Worst case is I have to buy a tablet.

regards,
Bob
