Thanks for this tip – it works well. The only problem remaining is that I still have to see the list of collections created on our other Kindles. On attempting to delete a one my Kindle warns me that it will be deleted from all my devices. This could make me unpopular with the rest of my family!
So, for now, I've made my own collections with a short prefix so that they are grouped together in the sort order.
