So...dh got me a Kindle Paperwhite (I guess 2?) for Christmas yesterday, and I tried to download some books and put them into collections. It made me turn wifi on first (I didn't know why until later). After I had put some books into collections, it appears that it had DOWNLOADED collections somehow from my old Kindle 4NT (including the contents of those collections that were Amazon books, but the books that were on my other Kindle but not the PW were grayed out). I had to go back and clean up the mess. But I wondered if it was going to sync the collection with my Kindle 4NT, but no, I connect4ed the K4NT to wifi and it appears that this is some sort of 1-way sync???
So..question--If I move a book out of the "unread" collection once I read it on my Kindle 4NT, I assume it will move out of it on the PW as well? But if I move it out of the collection on the Kindle PW, it won't move it out on the K4NT?
Why doesn't it work both ways? Will the K4NT move it back into "unread" on the PW since it doesn't move out there?
And why the grayed out stuff? On the one hand, I guess if I ever want to download any of those books it would make it easier, but one reason I didn't download a lot onto the new device was because that at about 900 books the old device was getting slow and needed occasionally to be rebooted.
How are sideloaded books handled with this?
I have read a little on this board about how the PW collections work but not how they work with the older Kindles.
Thanks. Additional thoughts and bitching welcome
