I've no idea why Your Media Library doesn't work for this purpose, it would be nice if it did as MYK does not let you select more than one item to delete at a time.
The customer service representative you engaged seems to have been a little ignorant or they would have directed you to MYK.

I was told
repeatedly that they cannot delete the trashcan, which they consider to be a
service to me. They said, if they weren't freebies, they could issue me a refund and thus permanently delete those items, but because they are freebies, they cannot go the refund route.
I can move anything I want
into the
trashcan (both from the MYK screen and from the YML), and they won't show in the cloud. Or, they did not use to, until this version of the iPad app. The app brought them all back: even though they are all gone from my
Manage Your Kindle screen, they all show in my Kindle app?

We are talking 300+ books I had to delete, so doing it one by one would have taken me weeks if not months. If you follow the link in my orignal post, you will see that there, you can batch delete items, because you can check more than one book at a time. Just that they are never truly deleted: they stay in your trashcan for all eternity - and come back to your iPad via the cloud.
In my case, these are all free French classics. Imagine if this was erotica and I shared my account with a kid/parent/new flame!
