I assume a boatload of Iphone owners do it to. Doesn't mean it is optimal, especially not to me.

BTW, there is no comparison between the 8.9" versus the 7" HDX. The 8.9" totally blows it out of the water any which way and for $349 it is probably the best bang for buck device on the market for that form factor.
