What exactly do you mean by "women's authors"? An author that is read by women? But surely that would cover virtually every writer currently in print. Or, an author who writes books likely to appeal to women? But that would include just about every genre, from historical fiction to thrillers and back again.
Sorry, I'm not trying to be facetious. My point is that it's difficult to recommend a book without knowing the sort of stuff your wife likes to read.
