For me, heat on the first day makes it worse. I keep a couple of cold packs in the freezer, but I didn't think I need them -- it isn't getting worse and no spasms (knock on wood!). It's just sore.
Tonight's temps should be in the teens, and not above freezing until Tuesday ... or Wednesday.
New Jersey is a small state, but the "front" seems to be right in the middle. The southern end of the state was more than 20º warmer for the high, and got much more rain (and less snow) than we did.
