Welcome to the thread!
The good news is that we don't count free books, in TBRs or as purchases. After all, if we counted public domain, authors could all stop writing, as there's enough public domain material to keep all of us in reading matter for the rest of our lives!
Sales are good, so long as you're buying ebooks that are on your wish list, and not just books that look interesting because they're on sale. That's a way to spend lots of money on a TBR that you're not actually very interested in reading.
So - read our three guidelines, (first post), and enjoy reading your TBR, while adding books to your wish list and waiting for the sales.

Providing those books were on your wish list (either explicit titles, or favourite authors), that's a good deal. But if they just looked interesting, shame on you…

Oh, what a good idea. I'm not sure I could manage that, but I might give it a go for next year's challenge. (I've failed the challenge I set myself this year of no more than 120 ebooks.)
