I found the issue:
1. Fat-finger - had a duplicate entry for $config['calibre_directory']. removed it 
2. I searched through the thread for an issue similar to mine and updated the remaining configuration string to "C:/Abyss Web Server/htdocs/catalogs/book bonanza/";
And it worked!
