He's got something called Nextbook Premium 7. I've never heard of it, but then my Nexus 7 purchase was a total impulse buy because of the Staples coupon so I have never really researched tablets. It came up in Chinese when I first turned it on, but I got a couple of things set up for him: BBC News, the PGA Tour app and the Craigslist garage sale listing page
I also set him up with Dropbox so the pictures he takes will automatically load there.
My father does use a PC, but for email only. He doesn't have a smart phone so is totally unfamiliar with touch screens and android. This should be fun
I told him he just needs to play with it.
The screen has a lot of glare compared to my Nexus. But I think he'll probably be happy with it since he doesn't know any better
