If you want to watch Prime Video the Nexus 7 is not the device of choice. You can use something like Puffin browser (with Flash built in) but the experience is sub-optimal. Whereas there is Amazon Instant Video app for iOS. Plus the Kindle app on Android is the poor orphan of mobile apps. It has the basics but the iOS app is much more well endowed.

So everything is a tradeoff.

But if Amazon ecosystem is not important, don't get a Fire. The Nexus is perfectly great and not more expensive.

If I were forced to take one for free I probably would go with the mini, because the apps are usually better, especially as you pursue special interests.
