I do not own a Glo, but I've read several stories here from people who continually experience software and hardware problems with it. With the PW2 if that happens, you can at least contact or send back to Amazon with no problems at all, at least, that has been my experience so far.

Now, and to be fair, if you side load books like it seems you have, I see no point of buying a Kindle; I think that the main advantage of PW is buying directly from Amazon or their 3G service. On that case, you may be better buying an more "open source" type of ereader instead.
One of the reasons I got my first PW was to be able to buy books from Amazon and immediately get them on the PW - my original one was 3g. However, Amazon just put out an update cramming every Collection ever owned into the PW. I found out about the issue and didn't allow the update. That means that no, I can't buy books from Amazon and download them. It is not a trivial issue for me, as I like to change around how my Collections look and are named often as my list of books changes. Just not going through the hassle of continualling removing them.

I have had several ebook readers. I think it all depends on what you need. FYI (and probably much more info than you want - grin) here are my thoughts. Before retirement I was a computer tech whose job was to research new software and hardware and make recommendations based on corporate needs or to design new software if I felt none on the market were adequate. So I do know about how to research my own needs for an ereader. I need a lighted one - previous ones with attached lights are just too glaring for my eyes. I wanted one that I could readily get here in the US without mail ordering. That pretty much eliminated everything except PW, Kobo, and Nook. I'm really, really sorry I got rid of my old lighted Sony.

I camp without electricity (just solar) for up to 3 weeks at a time. So, I need one I can read outside - that lets out lcd screens. I need one I can load lots of books on as I am a voracious, fast reader - usually a book a day, sometimes 2 for good authors. If I'm tired or feeling sick, I need an already read book, like a trusted friend, that I can read and not think too much about, so I want my old, favorite books with me all the time.

I had my doubts about my first PW as I knew it didn't have the capacity to hold enough books, but I thought the ability to get books on the fly made up for the loss in capacity. (I also like non-fiction in the form of mathematics, physics, philosophy. These are usually long books. I had given up carrying them with me due to the capacity of the PW.) Of course, I really never expected to be able to put illustrated pdfs on the ereader - just use a small computer or my tablet for that.

I know folks have had problems with the Kobo, but they have had them with the PWs, too - look at how many folks sent theirs back until they got a good screen. The one I got so far is issue free - and it really does have much better background and font blackness. Slower than the PW2, yes - but that is the trade off. I did not go with the Aura due to battery life being much less than the Glo. So, again, always a trade off. Yes, PW, might in their next update remedy the Collections problem, but I have seen the better fonts and background on the Glo, so I won't be going back.

I love, love to research and get ideas from other folks, so I appreciate your take on the situation - hopefully, you can now sort of see my take on it.
