The thing that makes me think it's the latter is that some of the shots look like a
manual. Of course someone could have xlated the manual and made a PDF of
that I suppose.

I wouldn't put too much store in that, actually, just like e-ink itself, wedgelights never seem to photograph very well: they always seem to look better in person than in pixels.
