I think people who wanted the newest reader because it is the newest reader aren't much put off by the prices of most models. Those like myself, who are budget conscious and would be in need of the credit probably intend to keep our readers until they don't work anymore, so a lot of readers on their last legs. The finances wouldn't work unless you could get the manufacturers to donate the discounts so they weren't an actual expense to you.
