Not a comparison really but I read on my iPad on both the Kindle and Kobo apps and iBooks. You can't compare the iPad to an e-ink reader really and I certainly wouldn't want to take it to the beach!
Outside you can't see the screen very well even in the shade or white on black and it is heavy-ish for prolonged periods.
For indoors, with the right brightness setting for your eyes, it's quite comfortable although the weight might get tiring if you hold it. When I use it to read it sits propped at the right angle in a case.
I am very happy to read on it in those circumstances or for a train journey when I travel light.
The iPad is invaluable for choosing books both from the web and within my library, it's much easier and faster than the e-reader to choose books, see an overview of the book and scroll through lots of books when looking through the library for a specific book or deciding on a new read.
For organising my library, as I don't use a PC, it is a must have. Without it I think I'd have given up on my KT.
I found this thread as my next e-reader will be a Kindle. I'd just put the PW13 on my Santa letter when I read of the PW14 rumours... To wait or not, oh dear.
Anyway Simaru hope that helps.
