I never considered a Kindle since my main source of books was and still is the public library, which didn't offer Kindle books for a long time. Even now, the Kindle selection tends to be less than the epub selection, at least IME.

Recently I have been collecting Kindle freebies so I have been thinking about getting a PW or something, now that Kindles are relatively cheap and no longer have the (IMO ugly) keyboard. At the moment I read them on my tablet (Asus). I have Calibre but quite frankly I'm not prepared to go to that much effort for freebies.
