So I was having that problem where when tried to send books to kobo it would fail. What people here told me it was a bug of windows xp and usb.
I was opening calibre->connecting kobo->get error
No I tried a different approach and for 3 times it worked without a problem.
Here's what I did: connected kobo->open folder (like it was a removal drive/usb pen)->(copied a file there to see if it worked without calibre, no problem)->opened calibre->sent the books->success.
So does where does it stand the problem? I'm inclined to believe it's a bug with either calibre or kobo or both. After all if it was a problem with usb/windows xp, I would have get the problem no matter what I tried, right?
