I use Calibre 1.12.0 and 'Kobo Reader Device Interface' 2.1.6 and KoboTouchExtended 2.2.13 together with a (patched) AuraHD 3.0.1
Recently I tried to transfer an EBook (.epub formatted) to my AuraHD. 'Try to support newer firmware' has been checked as well as 'Enable Extended Kobo Features'.
Unexpectedly it did not show up as a Kepub but as a plain Epub on the AuraHD.
How's that?
