Yea, I jumped through a few hoops to get a few books that way, but after picking up a few books, Amazon figured out that the credit card had a US address and shut me off from buying any more books on that account. I'm sure that I could get around it. For one thing, I have a friend in the UK, so I could probably send her a couple hundred bucks and get her to buy me a gift card there. Ultimately though, there is only so much hoop jumping that I'm willing to do.
It is an interesting question of why some of these dead authors ebooks are available in the UK but not the US. Eddings is the same way. I wonder if their contract to publish in the UK was different, or if the UK publisher just asserted the right to publish the ebooks and since the author is dead and the current copyright holder seems to be indifferent no one is challenging them.
