I don't buy e-books from Apple and I don't have a Kindle so if your question is specific, I cannot help you. Now if your question is general as to how any e-book looks like on the Ipad, I could tell you that on top of the color there is the fluidity, the very high definition of the Retina display, the customization of font, background, margins, page turn etc which in my opinion is very superior to e-readers and the choice of what app you use to read your e-books. In my case it's Marvin.
The only real downside is the battery life which is very poor compared to that of a dedicated e-reader, and the price too could be an issue as the Ipad is much more expensive than a dedicated e-reader.
