I couldn't root my S4 immediately because it was carrier, SIM and region-locked for the first six months. Believe me, I thought about the fact I couldn't root until after I'd used my phone for an extended period.

Loss of data won't be an issue on my Nexus 7.2, but it might well become one on my S4, which I have to root to avoid getting KNOX with the Samsung KitKat rollout.

I'll have a look at Mskip and Wugfresh. Rooting my N7.2 will be my dress rehearsal for rooting the S4.
