I prefer using a preconfigured dual boot SD card such as those from AFN which allow me to switch back and forth between the stock Nook OS and android jelly bean. The preconfigured cards are inexpensive and work great, without having to do it myself or running the risk of bricking my device or voiding my warranty.
I actually like the Nook OS and it's user interface. It's clean, attractive and straight forward and I usually use it. However, jelly bean gives me easier access to my Amazon apps and other sideloaded apps which are a pain to sideload from the Nook OS. Also, I find performance to sometimes be faster in jelly bean.
