Searched for but couldn't find any documentation on this in calibre manual or forums. Forgot about the Quality Check plugin command fix->check and repair book sizes.

Per empirical testing, the Size column does show the size of the largest-size format in the book folder. After adding or removing formats calibre seems to automatically recompute the size value after a few seconds, without needing to resort to the Quality Check plugin command to fix sizes.
The PI is needed for those of us that also use the Open With PI (or do careful, permissible file surgery) that calibre is officially unaware of happening.
