Searched for but couldn't find any documentation on this in calibre manual or forums. Forgot about the Quality Check plugin command fix->check and repair book sizes.

Per empirical testing, the Size column does show the size of the largest-size format in the book folder. After adding or removing formats calibre seems to automatically recompute the size value after a few seconds, without needing to resort to the Quality Check plugin command to fix sizes.
