I tried to position footnotes below the paragraphs that referenced them but that may not be the best way. There is at least one thread here on MR discussing their proper placement, especially considering the variety of ereaders out there, and it didn't seem to me there was any consensus on the 'best' place to put them.
Re the frontispiece, each of the volumes has one but I didn't see an easy way to extract them from the scan at archive.org so many thanks for that one!
And a question about footnotes in general: Right now they are indicated by [#]. I could change that to just the footnote number using superscript so that the reference doesn't disrupt the reading flow as much if that would be more appealing. What do you think?
