While I noticed the difference between both , I would not say the colors are poor.

The Mini is not cheap but it's not a bad tablet either. The extra inches in screen are fantastic for browsing Internet and ebooks.

Putting things into perspective , besides screen's quality , the Mini offers you a great iOS ecosystem.
